The battery grip should be better known as a vertical grip and that is why I ordered it. As a vertical grip, it is fabulous, allowing a natural and stable position of the hands.
What put me off (and prompted me to return it) was the size of the grip. It just adds a lot to an already large and intimidating piece of equipment in a world where digital cameras are more diminutive every few months. For extra battery life, I would rather carry a spare (warm)battery in my pocket.

While pricey, it is convenient. Risk of accidental shooting a picture with device turned on is real, but not harmful unless flash spooks subject. Convenient controls placement other than risk of accidental firing.

This is optional, if you don’t use the camera for long. Please give the second though before you buy it. otherwise, very nice!

This Grip goes well with the 40D. I have bigger hands, and this grip helps the camera be more stable. It is of course a little heavier, but, it gives me a work out, so, it’s not a big deal

Recently after upgrading to GEN D3, I have been faced with an annoying (but not critical) bug were the X and O buttons swap. On the XMB it is normal where X is to confirm and O is to cancel, but as soon as the game launches, they swap and I don’t know why.
So incredibly glad I found this really wonderful website
